Introduction Amlozaar-H Tablet is a combination of medicines used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) when a single medication is not effective. It helps to lower high blood pressure thus reduces chances of future heart attack and stroke. This medicine should be used along with a proper diet, salt restriction, and regular exercise for best results. It should be taken in the morning with food to avoid frequent urination at night. This medicine may cause dehydration, so it is better to take plenty of fluids. Inform doctor if you develop extreme thirst or muscle weakness. Some patients may develop swelling of ankle as a side effect of using this medicine. It may also produce dizziness initially, but this improves with time. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Amlozaar-H Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time. How Amlozaar-H Tablet works Amlozaar-H Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Losartan, Amlodipine and Hydrochlorothiazide. Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) and Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). They work by widening and relaxing the blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic which removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body through urine. Over time it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow. Amlozaar-H Tablet related warnings Alcohol UNSAFE It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Amlozaar-H Tablet Taking Hydrochlorothiazide with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. Pregnancy CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR Amlozaar-H Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor. Lactation SAFE IF PRESCRIBED Amlozaar-H Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Driving UNSAFE Amlozaar-H Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. Amlozaar-H Tablet may cause side effects such as dizziness, headaches, nausea or tiredness, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive. Kidney CAUTION Amlozaar-H Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Amlozaar-H Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Amlozaar-H Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Liver CAUTION Amlozaar-H Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease.
