How to use Glutorva Tablet SR
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR is to be taken with food.
Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR may cause stomach upset if taken on empty stomach.
How Glutorva Tablet SR works
Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR is a combination of two medicines: Atorvastatin and metformin which treat diabetes associated with high blood cholesterol levels. Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering medicine which lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL). Metformin is a biguanide which decreases the production and absorption of sugar in your body and allows better use of existing insulin.

Alcohol
UNSAFE
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
Pregnancy
UNSAFE
Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.
Lactation
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving
CAUTION
Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Liver
CAUTION
Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Glutorva 20 mg/1000 mg Tablet SR is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
